North Brother Island: The Last Unknown Place in New York City is difficult to categorize: put it
in 'photography' and New York City fans might miss it; place it in 'arts' and those looking for
visual travel books might pass it buy. Suffice it to say this is simply a lovely recommendation for
any interested in landscape photography in general, New York City in particular, and one of the
City's last remaining wilderness areas. It's a gorgeous discussion of the North Brother Island that
promises to educate and amaze even City natives, providing a colorful survey suitable for
general-interest and avid City history followers alike.
