Mudeater: An American Buffalo Hunter and the Surrender of Louis Riel is the biography of a
multitalented survivor of the Old West. Born as the son of a Wyandot Chief in 1849, Irvin
Mudeater was a great and remarkably adaptable frontiersman. He ran wagon trains to Santa Fe,
fought off "Indian attacks", survived the American Civil War, drove a stagecoach, and lived as a
plainsman on the frontier. He was also known as a renowned buffalo hunter, and engaged in the
wasteful practice of mass slaughter - allegedly killing 126 head of buffalo in just one day. In
1882, Mudeater moved to Canada, where he assumed the name "Robert Armstrong" and a white
identity, and played a crucial role in bringing the fugitive Metis leader Louis Riel into custody.
Mudeater is a true-life saga that reads like a Wild West adventure novel, and highly
recommended especially for public and college library biography collections.

Crime fiction is the literary product of the burgeoning metropolis of the 19th century and features

The stylized blooms of the Empire style were followed by the highly naturalistic blossoms of the
later nineteenth century. Flowers continued to flourish in the sinuous shapes of Art Nouveau, the
geometric designs of Art Deco, and the sculptural simplicity of modernism, with great artists
including Rene Lalique and Georges Fouquet constantly reworking nature's forms for their
style-conscious clientele. Now, contemporary designers such as Claude Lalanne, Lorenz Baumer,
